Sync and backup

Synchronization makes it easy to use notes on different devices; backup keeps an extra copy of your data. You can use both together.

Automatic Backup to cloud storage or NAS

Back up four types of documents to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Baidu Netdisk or WebDAV in their original format. The first backup includes all eligible documents; later backups process changes at your chosen frequency. You can set network restrictions and excluded names, then check progress and retry failed items in Backup Status.

This is a one-way backup. Local deletion will not delete the existing remote copy, and a new editable document will be created during recovery. In the same backup location, files with the same name and path will be overwritten by the next successful upload, including uploads from another device.

Step-by-step guides: Set up Automatic Backup, check status and restore documents.

Sync using iCloud

After turning on synchronization, pay attention to the synchronization status and error prompts. The status in the document list does not mean that the main text and all attachments have been completely transferred; before changing devices, allow time for the transfer and confirm that the target document can be opened normally.

Step-by-step guides:

Save local backup manually

Tap "Export Backup" in the iCloud & Backup settings to manually generate the ZIP, and save it through the system sharing or file saving panel after completion. Keep a clear date and name for your backups, and store them somewhere you can find them later.

Synchronization is used to update content between devices, and independent backup is used to maintain a copy of a point in time. Before changing devices or reorganizing your library, you can manually save a backup first.

Step-by-step guides:

Check data before changing settings

When synchronization is turned off, "Keep local" and "Delete local" will produce different results. Before cleaning up the cloud, switching accounts, or dealing with recovery issues, confirm the location of existing documents and backups, and choose operations involving deletion carefully.
