Use the Shortcuts app
Open File supports all four document types. Scan Document requires an iPhone or iPad that supports scanning; this action is not supported on Mac. The Shortcuts interface and available languages depend on your device’s system.
Create an Open File shortcut
- In Prodrafts, make sure the document exists, has a recognizable name, and has opened successfully at least once.
- Open the system Shortcuts app, create a shortcut, and find Prodrafts under app actions.
- Add Open File and tap its Document parameter.
- Choose a recent document suggestion or search by name. If several documents have the same name, check their additional details before choosing.
- Save and run the shortcut. Prodrafts opens or returns to the foreground and attempts to open the selected document.
- Check the title and contents in Prodrafts. An “Opening” message means the action has started, not that the document has finished loading.
The action refers to the specific document you selected. It may not open a readable document if that document has since been deleted, you have switched library accounts, or its contents have not downloaded. Find and open the document in Prodrafts first, then select it again in the shortcut.
Create a Scan Document shortcut
Add Prodrafts’ Scan Document action to a shortcut, then save and run it. The app opens the scanning flow from the library. Capture the paper in the system scanner, check the edges, and finish to create a paged note.
This action does not take photos automatically in the background or insert the result into the current text document. You may need to grant camera access the first time. Canceling exits the scan. See Create a paged note from photos or a scan.
If you cannot find an action or document
Make sure Prodrafts is installed and opens normally, then look for it under app actions. Recent suggestions are not the full library; search by name when needed. A locked document still requires authentication in Prodrafts. Shortcuts cannot bypass its lock.
Siri’s supported phrases and languages depend on your device. First run the shortcut directly in the Shortcuts app to check the action and document parameter, then set up your preferred way to launch it.
See Multiple windows and split screen to view several documents, or Privacy password for lock settings.
