Reveal, hide, and remove tape

Available in infinite documents, vertical documents, and paged notes on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Cover material with the tape tool, then tap to reveal or hide it.

Reveal and hide one answer

  1. Find the tape covering an answer.
  2. Tap it to reveal the answer and compare it with your own.
  3. Tap again to cover the content.
  4. Continue through the other pieces of tape at your own pace.

Revealing does not delete handwriting or require you to draw the tape again. Finish any active drawing before interacting with existing tape.

Tap tape to reveal the answer, then tap again to cover it. The original handwriting remains. Tap to view the original image

Reveal or hide in bulk

Open Tape settings in the pen box and choose Show All or Hide All. In paged notes, check the result on the current page and inspect other pages as needed. A change on one page does not prove every page has changed.

These are study controls, not delete actions. Use Hide All to cover answers again without undoing edits to the content.

Delete tape

  1. Touch and hold the piece of tape you want to remove.
  2. Choose Delete Tape when it appears and check that you are acting on that piece.
  3. Verify that the underlying content remains. If you removed it by mistake, use canvas Undo immediately.

When selecting tape with the lasso, check that its object-type filters include tape. Reveal an answer if you only need a quick look; delete the tape when you no longer need it to cover the answer.

Common questions

Touching and holding does not show Delete Tape

Make sure you are pressing within the tape, rather than on adjacent text or images.

Why is the answer still there after deleting tape?

Tape is a separate object. Removing it does not erase the underlying content.

Will an export keep the current covered state?

Preview the exported file and check the result before sharing. Tape is not a permanent deletion or privacy-redaction tool.
