Text documents
Text documents are designed for keyboard-based writing, such as articles, meeting notes, and study summaries. Content flows with the text, using a different editor from the handwriting canvas.
Headings and body text
Organize chapters with hierarchical headings, and use text to explain details. Use text formatting, color, emphasis, and links to highlight key points; longer articles can use an outline to see their structure.
Step-by-step guides:
- Get started with Text documents
- Use headings and the automatic outline
- Format text and paragraphs
- Insert and edit text links
Lists, tasks, and quotations
Use bulleted lists for related points, numbered lists for action steps, and task lists for to-do items. Quotes and code blocks are great for holding different types of content, making long articles easier to read.
Step-by-step guides:
Find and modify
Use text search and replace to locate text, unify names, or modify repeated expressions. Word count makes it easy to understand content length. The file name search in the library and the text search here are different entry points.
Step-by-step guides:
Pictures, audio recordings and tables
Insert pictures, videos, audio recordings, or tables into the text so that the material follows the paragraphs. You can also use your camera, or scan text if your device supports it. Mind maps, connecting lines, and pins on the canvas use different editing methods and are not text tools.
Step-by-step guides:
- Insert and edit tables in text documents
- Insert and manage media in text documents
- Record and save audio
- Search, manage, and merge recordings
LaTeX formulas
Enter LaTeX via the formula entry, choosing between inline formulas or display formulas. Inline formulas are suitable for placing in sentences, and display formulas are suitable for showing derivation and calculation. Equations can be typeset offline, preserving the original LaTeX content.
Step-by-step guides:
Markdown and document output
You can import Markdown files or paste clipboard contents in Markdown. When finished, use .prodrafts to keep the document editable, or export it to PDF, Markdown, TXT, HTML, Word, or print according to your purpose.
Markdown and TXT retain formula source code, HTML and PDF retain formula typesetting; Word will convert supported formula structures, and unsupported structures retain the source code. Open the result to check the formatting before sharing.
For format selection, see Import, Export and Share.
Step-by-step guides:
- Paste or insert Markdown into a document
- Create a Text document from Markdown
- Export and print Text documents
